Move notation cheat sheet
Hold the cube with white on top and green in front. Each letter names one face.
Faces
U— Up face (white, on top)D— Down face (yellow, on the bottom)F— Front face (green, toward you)B— Back face (blue, away from you)L— Left face (orange)R— Right face (red)
Modifiers
F— turn the front layer 90° clockwise (looking at that face)F'— the apostrophe (“prime”) means 90° counter-clockwiseF2— the 2 means a 180° turn (direction doesn't matter)f/r/u— lowercase = wide turn (that face plus the middle slice behind it)M,E,S— middle-slice turns (follows L, D and F directions respectively)
Quick example: R U R' U' — the “sexy move” — turns the right face clockwise, the top clockwise, the right counter-clockwise, then the top counter-clockwise. Repeat it six times and you're back to solved.
